  There were some pretty stupid comments made yesterday. People from the audiance just kept saying that there all liars and just twist the teachings around to get people to not believe the WTS. The conductor also said that "yea and they always bring up mistakes that might of happened in the past like 1975. That was thirty years ago, we are so way past that were moving forward and there always stuck in the past." I hate how they always use that as a copout. "stop thinking about the past! Now lets talk about world war 1 and how that proves christ coming!" Uh you know that back in 1914 you believed christ came 40 years ago in 1874. "stop living the past!" The last comment was made by a R/F "That is what we love about the truth, it's always changing the light is always getting brighter!" What the F#*k!

  Apostate music

  as a jw kid, i was always hearing about not listening to certain music.

  one reason my mother called me apostate is because she saw some cd's i had - she called it gospel.

  some of them were decidedly what is termed "chrisitan" music in the store, some are crossover artists (chrisitian but played on mainstream/top 40 radio) and there is alot of country music that is spiritual for lack of a better word.. i was always under the impression that "unapproved" music would be songs with lyrics that go against biblical principals - sex, drugs, etc, not music that promotes good things in life, or glorifiying god and jesus.

  yea when I go out and service I have to not bring my cd case otherwise if people are in my car they start looking through it and asking stupid questions like "why do you listen to these guys they are highly immoral”. Uh give me break On the way to the meeting it’s all about Nine Inch Nails: Terrible Lie And on the way home Tool: Opiate. “Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow”!

  hi everyone, i am supposed to meet with an elder tonight.

  i met several times with him before going over questions (my mother thinks he will restore my evil thinking).

  anyway we have already gone over all of the basics (1874,1914,607 no answer for this one, the un and everything else).

  Thank you all again for welcoming me! Thanks for that little tidbit JWfact about Ray Franz not believing in the trinity I didn't know that. I am currently in the middle of In Search of Christian Freedom. I am going to stop meeting with this elder though, it's just a dog chasing its tail. I have seen both sides and I know what is truth or not, he has only seen the WTS and refuses to acknowledge the rest so there is no point. At the beginning when I met with him I printed all of the information off for him to see exactly where I was coming from and I only printed the information that he could find. (I didn't print anything from 1930 or earlier unless I had an authentic copy of the material with me so he could see it was all genuine and not made up by some stranger) I even have copies of the old Russell books Studies of the scriptures all six volumes. All he said to it though was that is so far in the past it doesn't mean anything now. Oh right because it proves against your teachings except when something from the past or someone outside the WTS said something positive then we will use it, other wise it's to old or apostasy! What a load of crap! You just can't win, so why bother?

  Thank you PeacefulPete and everybody who has welcomed me to the forum! Yea the elder told me almost the exact same thing, that's freighting! They just want to take away your ability to think. Stay away from all these areas and read the watchtower. I've been doing that all my life and I've been miserable. When questioning something or someone you need to have both sides and then with your common sense and thinking capacity decide which one is correct.

  Sadly I am baptized, and was raised in this organization. My dad was an elder for 17 years. (Last two where as PO) My parents split back in 99 and that is when the door opened up for my brother. He learned everything he could have and then went off to college and finished his degree. He hates this cult more than anything!! But when I was younger I didn't really listen to what he had to say, wish I did. I was just like everybody else, I knew this was "the truth" and didn't really give much thought to what he told me.
  
  Sadly I got baptized when I was 16, I didn't know crap, but of course they still baptized me. Hell they will baptize 9 year olds just to make sure there stuck in this cult. Anyway I finally reached rock bottom when I was 19 and had too many questions. My brother gave me the quotes website and Ray Franz CC, that was a year ago. Anyway, All of my questions where answered using so called "apostasy material" in the end it was WTBTS litature, and I have been soo much happier knowing the real truth.
  
  I am still going to meetings because I have not built up the courage to just walk away (I have no friends on the outside and am just financially not able to live on my own if all came down to me leaving). At the longest it will be the summer/fall of 2007 when I leave because then I will have my degree and I can just get a job, move and never be seen again.
  
  I met with the elder tonight and he couldn't prove 607, obviously. But told me I need to read the insight book again. And told me to stop reading apostate litature. I told him it was all WTBTS litature and he just ignored it and told me to study more.
  
  It really pisses me off; he had no humility in him. He barely listened to what I had to say. Just quickly shrugged it off and went back to the first century Christians.
  
  In the end it doesn't matter, I know the real truth and have never been happier. (Well I will be happier once I am no longer apart of it) I just went there to please my mom but I also was very humble. If he could prove me wrong on all the 607, 1874, the UN, Rutherford entire presidency, then I would faithfully repent get df'd and come back as a pioneer and go to bethel. But we all know that's not possible so he can eat it.
  
  Knowledge is a wonderful thing, no one or group will convince me otherwise!!

  Thanks Dave, yeah I know, They have no Proof using the bible, I know what this religion is. I've been learning all about it this last year, i am only meeting with this guy just to please my mom. At the same time I find his answers Hilarious! And also, I am very careful with what I say, I am very paranoid, in fact i have this one snake, that thinks he's my friend that saw some of my old Russel books and some notes (snooping basterd) and I have been trying just tell him it's all ok nothing is happening bla bla, for the moment I have him fooled.

It finally boils down to: But they have correct bible teachings, if everything else is not perfect atleast they have the core ideas right! Anyway that's still not good enough, I have been studying the bible and the deeper I get the more it seems like a load of crap! (Sorry for those of you who believe in it, that is just my opinion :)) So What I'm getting at is there any religion that does not believe in the trinity? And then somewhat similar to ours! Thank you!

  I'm in the same boat as Collegegurl I go to all the meetings because that is where some of my family is and all my friends. My eyes where just open to all of this at the beginning of this year and I've been reading everything I possibly can about this organization. Back to the topic I don't know how anybody can just sit there and not have all sorts of question going through their mind. I'm only 21, and yea growing up I didn't give a crap about it I just did what my parents told me to do and believed they were doing what was right, but finally you reach a point where you have to ask yourself: is this for real? Is all this fairy tale crap really true? I just don't understand how people like my parents can be going there for 30 years and hearing the same old bulls$!t over and over again and not have an inner desire to ask any questions. God, I don't know how I'm going to put up with this for another year and a half.
